MARBURG

The University town of Marburg is around 80km north of Frankfurt, clustering on the slopes of the Lahn valley crowned by the amazing castle. The stunning picturesque town is filled with a maze of narrow streets and beautiful medieval buildings. 

WELCOME RECEPTION

The Welcome Reception will be held at the Old University, a historic ancient Monastery.The University is the oldest in the world and is named  after Landgrave Philipp who founded it in 1527. 

GUIDED TOURS

There will be a programme of guided tours, details will follow.

CONFERENCE DINNER

The Conference Dinner will be held at Marburg Castle, which rises on the river Lahntal west of the city center. The castle was the residence of the Landgraves of Hessen from the 13th century to the 17th century. With stunning grounds and an impressive collection of medieval artifacts you can still see the original paving in the chapel.

We can only accommodate 300 for the conference dinner and tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. The cost is €80 per person and can be selected when you register.

Restaurant “Zur Sonne”

The restaurant was founded in 1569. It is located in the middle of the historical town center in the market place. They offer you typical German and regional specialties in a historical atmosphere. You can also enjoy your food on the terrace, if the weather is fine.

This restaurant is also located in the market place. They offer you exclusive Italian specialties in a romantic atmosphere.

Weinstube “ Weinlädle” (Wine tavern)

The “Weinlädle” is located at the brink of the market place. From here you have a nice view of the town hall. In the comfortable atmosphere you can drink a cool beer or eat German specialties like “Maultaschen” or “Flammkuchen”.

Small but nice. Here you find selected meals in a modern atmosphere. In summer you can dine in the sun.
